Goal Reboot

Half way through the year and I am feeling pretty amazing.  How are you feeling? I’ll wait…

So this is just a little check up or check in.  I am sure most of you set goals or resolutions this year and I just wanted to take some time to send some encouragement your way.  I have had my moments of giving up within these last six months.  One major thing that keeps me going is my purpose.  I was born for the things that I have been blessed to do such as write these posts, encourage others, build community, and help as many people as I can.  We are all here to serve others but there are different ways to serve and we have to find our own unique way of doing so.  So with all of that being said, I set some goals for this year and I have found a new boost of energy when achieving them.

At the beginning of the year I set my word for the year and it is PREPARE. I definitely feel like I am being prepared for some major things coming up and I have to daily remind myself that with preparation comes patience (impatient as hell), faith and belief.  I’m being tested in all of these right now everyday.  I choose to stay consistent in where God is leading me and take at least one step a day to my goals and dreams.

One major goal was to put more time into building my business and my brand.  I started really putting into practice the scripture “Faith without works is dead”.   I used to be that person that was like if I ask God for it that is all that I need to do to get it.  Foolishness, so not true at all.  I have really started putting in the work. Making sure that I am posting everyday, learning all that I can to make the business better and make it grow. I want Simply My Purpose to be one of the best Purpose coaching boutiques in the world. I have so many dreams and goals tied into this business and I can’t wait to see them all come together.

Another goal is to finish my degree. I have been putting this thing off so much because I don’t have a real reason other than I have times of laziness and I just don’t want to study for the two test that I need to take to complete the process. But recently I had a little bit of a scare when it came to not having my degree (details of that coming in a future post). Thanking God that it didn’t disrupt my next move. But I have set a date to take each test and I am studying for them and plan to have them completed by the middle of the third quarter of this year. Wish me luck !!!!

Another goal was to finish my weight loss challenge from last year. I wanted to lose 60 lbs by the end of 2016 and I made it to 50lbs. I had a few set backs but I am now 4 lbs away from my goal weight and decided to go another 10 lbs to get under 200lbs although I’m not sure about this skinny look on me. But I’m proud and happy all at the same time because I never thought that I would be disciplined enough to do any of this.

I also made a goal to live more, do more and spend more time with family and friends.  The living part has just recently taken off and I’m excited while I thought others were limiting me I realize that I was really limiting myself and I’m hear for the living.  I still don’t do a lot other than working a lot (I got these bills) but I recently just really got on my grind and it is all coming together and easing up.  Hanging with family and friends well I am definitely doing more of that and reaching out more.  I don’t want to be that introverted friend all of the time that’s never around.  So I have started hanging a little more and spending a little more time outside of my home.

Prayer and spending time with God was a major goal for me this year because I be slipping.  I make time with Him daily and I make sure that I am listening more than I am talking.  Building this relationship is the most important thing to me because I have had my doubts as to whether or not He is listening to me and moving around in my life.  But He has shown me over and over again that He is there and He has me covered.  So if I don’t do anything else throughout the day I make sure I give God His time.  What a difference it has made in my life, in my faith, in my relationships, within myself. Truly the best goal that I set for myself.

A couple of ways to get your mojo back with achieving these goals…

  1. Remember your “Why”. Why did you set this goal?  Do you still really want it?  On a scale of 1 to 10 where is it in your priority list?
  2. Take a step toward the goal.  Just one small step will get you moving again.  JUST ONE!!!!
  3. Reach out to someone close to you for encouragement and/or a kick in the butt to get moving.

I have a challenge starting on June 18.  The challenge is called #doitwithpurpose.  For the next 30 days, I am challenging myself, you and everyone else to set one goal that you really want to get done now and post every day one step that you have taken to accomplish that one goal.  The goal for this challenge is to give you the boost that you need to accomplish your goals, to connect you with others that are doing the same thing and to build a community of encouragers.  I am so excited about this challenge.  So we get started on June 18 and with every post use the hashtag #doitwithpurpose and tag me also.  Comment and let me know if you are up for the challenge.

Do you need a reboot in achieving your goals for this year?  Have you fallen off and need some encouragement and guidance? Let me help you, get in touch with me.

Until next time, live simply but extraordinary.

Focus On

I had no idea of what to write about this week so I am literally sitting here writing this post on the very morning that it is due to hit your mailbox.  I haven’t had any creative spurts lately and when I sat down to write for this week nothing was flowing not to mention how exhausted I am from being so focused.  I have post on standby but nothing seemed right to post today.  After such a great response to my post last week “Change Happens” I was like I really need something to follow up that progress of change.  I can’t break this momentum.  So I was stuck needless to say.

However, I woke up this morning like FOCUS. Now I’ve been going over my notes from church service on Sunday where the topic of the message was “Focus”.  It was such an amazing message and the topic flows right along with last weeks post.  So with change there has to be focus now don’t let this little 5 letter word fool you.  It requires a lot from you.

It takes discipline to focus.
It takes preparation to focus.
It takes obedience to focus.
It takes love to focus.
It takes determination to focus.
It takes forgiveness to focus.
It takes letting go to focus.
It takes faith to focus.

On May 6, 2017, I woke up and was like I want “this” more than I don’t want “this”.  By “this” I mean the life that I have been purposed to live, the life that I have dreamed about living, basically the life that I want for myself and the legacy that I want to leave for my family.  Now I don’t know what happened the the week before that got me to this point but I woke up determined.  My “WHY” in life is greater than me.  My Purpose and the life that I want has become the driving force for me.  I have a lot to prove to myself.  I used to be so mad at people for letting me down but truth be told I was really mad at myself for letting me down and that stopped on May 6th.

So on that morning I got out of bed and just started.  I honestly had no real plan but I knew I had to take steps and meaningful steps to fuel my purpose, my passion, and my vision.  I realized that no matter what I had going on around me that my focus had to be greater than the distractions.  My focus has to look past my past.  My focus has to look past the present situation.  My focus has to be greater than my excuses and the why I shouldn’t do this or want this.  My focus has to be greater than the fear that has stopped me so many other times.  My focus has to be over 100% at this point in my journey because I want the life that I want too much to let it be anything else.

I was having a honest conversation with my mom last night and I was feeling so discouraged because what I see isn’t matching up to what I want or the vision that I have been given.  I was on the verge of losing my focus and giving up and settling for those things that are right in front of me that would be easy for me to just grab right now and make the best out of it.  But she reminded me that giving up is not an option and settling is not an option.  I’ve had a taste of the life that I want in so many areas and just because it isn’t like that now I know that with my focus, my drive, my determination, my mindset change and with God it is all coming back together better than ever.  The pastor said on Sunday that you can’t let your history keep you from your future.  You have to push past your history.  Yes my past seems to be very present in my life right now but it isn’t and I have to see past that.  My question to you today is … Where is your focus?

I challenge you today (I am all about a good challenge these days) to evaluate your focus today and decide how bad do you want “IT”.  What are you willing to do to make those things happen in your life?  What are you focused on that could keep you from living and moving in your purpose and accomplishing your goals and dreams?  I see a super amazing future ahead of us all and we just have to be focused enough and believe that we can accomplish it all.

How can I help?  We all need a coach… my mom was my coach this week.  Comment below and let me know what you are focused on and if you need any help or encouragement I am here.

Let’s CHAT!!!!

Until next time, live simply while making it extraordinary.

Purpose Talk

At one point in my life I found myself pushing everyone around me to be better, to follow their dreams, and to do what they wanted to do. But I wasn’t doing the same for myself so I decided to start practicing what I was preaching and started pushing myself to do better, to be better, and to accomplish and go after all that I want. So moral to this story is be the push you need for yourself and let everyone else that maybe pushing you be the bonus. Keep going!!

Purpose Talk

WP Sep15

Motivation to get up, motivation to push forward, motivation to keep going, motivation to step outside of your normal, motivation to not hang out when there is work to be done, motivation to live differently now so that you can live way different later.  Just be motivated to live your best life. Be motivated to live your purpose.

The Confidence Within

 Confidence

Having and keeping confidence hasn’t been easy for me throughout my 35 years of life.  I go through spurts but at my age it is time for me to be consistent in my confidence and stop going through spurts.  No one is perfect and I definitely am not however I strive to be daily.  Perfection can be a rabbit hole if you get caught up so what I like to say is that I will be perfect at being human.

I realize that I will never be 100% perfect and at times I won’t have the best smile or thoughts or make the best decisions but I also realize that I am human and things just aren’t going to be all the way on point all of the time.  But I am confident in KNOWING who I am.  To build confidence you have to be able to look in the mirror and see you…really see you.  Embrace the good, the bad, and the ugly of who you are and grow and evolve.  Improve the areas that you aren’t pleased with.  One thing I like to enforce to my clients is that no one should be able to come up to you and tell you about you without you being able to say “I know this already” (it shouldn’t come as a shock) and your reaction should be one of humbleness and/or ask them how they think you should improve in whatever area they are pointing out.

Build your confidence by believing in yourself and getting to know yourself.  An exercise that I like to do is list at least 15 things that I like/love about myself and reflect on those things. I recently did a list and I have them listed below.

  1. My heart
  2. My smile
  3. My character
  4. My genuineness
  5. My body
  6. My creativeness
  7. My integrity
  8. My spirit
  9. My strong will
  10. My personality
  11. My listening ability and attentiveness
  12. My determination
  13. My morals and foundation
  14. My intelligence
  15. My adventurous nature

Doing this list hasn’t always been easy, I mean it starts off easy in the beginning because at first you are listing things that are on the surface like smile, teeth, and hair but when the surface runs out you have to dig a little deeper within to get to the real good stuff like your pure heart, your compassion, your spirit and so on.  Digging for those attributes should make you ask questions before listing them.  Well is my heart pure and what makes it pure, what is compassion and how often do I show it for it be apart of my list and so on with other areas of the list.

Confidence is built and like a lot of things in life it may take a while to build but it will take no time at all to break it down.  So I am asking you to build your confidence.  Ask yourself, “what do I love about me and what can I improve on?” and as you build … GUARD IT.

A prayer that I like to say is “God show me me as you see me, all of me and help me to grow continually”.

Just believe in you and believe that you are great no matter what!!!!

Take a minute and send me some things that you love about yourself and if you are in a place where you can’t think of anything dig deep the good is there within you.  Hope to hear from you soon.
