“You are not alone…”
This was back in July of 2015 when I heard someone say this, I must have looked like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. I turned and looked at them and said yeah I know it just feels like it. Truth is I wasn’t alone but I was probably in the loneliest place ever in my mind.
When I am going through difficult times I completely isolate myself from everyone and everything. I don’t want to bring anyone else down with my mood and the heaviness that I may be going through. But that simple statement “You are not alone” was reassuring that I do have people that I can lean on when the going gets tough and I am in a place of not knowing where I am going next. It’s funny but not really funny when I go into this place I always say I don’t have anyone but the truth is I have awesome friends and an awesome family that are there and willing to help me get through the moments of stuck. I realize more than ever what family and friendship mean and I am super grateful to have them around me and supporting me.
Ever been going through something and you just thought no one would ever understand and just couldn’t help you. I posted in Words of Purpose on Monday a quote “Don’t be ashamed of your story it will inspire others,” and when I say that rings so true for me. I often think that no one will understand, no one will have advice for me but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are people around you right now that has been through what you are going through. They may not be super close to you, it maybe someone that you haven’t spoken to in awhile but they are there and I like to think they are strategically placed in your life at the right time when you are going through.
There is so much going on in our world and I am one of those people who refuses to watch the news (my dad fusses at me all of the time for this) but I refuse to sit and watch the negativity that is going on around me. I see enough on social media to keep up with what is going on but I said that to say that we need to lean on each other more than ever these days. Truth is you are never alone even if you have one person to lean on that person was placed there to help you and pull you through whatever it is that you may be going through.
Take it from me NEVER isolate yourself because it makes the weight that you are carrying 10 times heavier reach out to those that you have in your corner and let them in. You will thank me for it later. We all have to be encouraged at some point in our life and we all have to give encouragement at some point in our life so learn how to receive and learn how to give.
If you feel alone I am here if you need someone to just bounce thoughts off of…Reach out.
